Erg-a-thon 2014

Some things you need to know for the day:
  • Girls to arrive 9am at Lumsden Green, Cnr Broadway & Khyber Pass, Newmarket.
  • The girls will need food & water, sunscreen, EGGS rowing t-shirt & hat.
  • The ergs, tent and everything the girls need will be arriving by truck.
  • Paul is using the Ergathon in lieu of a training session. The rowing target is from Auckland to Wanganui and back – 800kms on ergs as a team.
  • We are representing Epsom Girls Grammar – smile & be pleasant.
  • Jo Frew & Wendy Thorpe will be attending as TICs and the girls will be required to stay in the Lumsden Green  area and not wander off.
  • A session will be run at school early this week on how to ask for donations, manners & school reputation etc.
  • The day is also the Newmarket Christmas festival. Previous event times suggest that the bulk of the session and pedestrian numbers are between 10am-2pm. However as we haven’t run this during such a large festival, this may deviate from previous year’s events.
  • We aim to raise $10,000 from this event – if we exceed this number, we will run a celebratory BBQ for everyone in our club at ARC before the end of the year.
  • An incentive of 2 Nike vouchers – value $100 each for the girl who gets the largest donation $ and for every girl that raises $200 or above will go into a draw for the other $100 Nike voucher.
  • For those parents who cannot help on the day – home baking to sell please, wrapped/covered with recipe included (allergy issue info).
  • Donations for hampers we can raffle too please.
  • A roster with duties to help will be heading your way this week, please volunteer a small amount of your time – “many hands make light work” – as Confucius say.
